An Englishman who has lived most of his life as an American, Steve has for the past 13 years taught design and graphics courses at Indiana University. Before this, he worked for almost two decades in newspaper graphics departments, including 16 years at the Chicago Tribune, where he was Graphics Editor and later Senior Artist.
Steve has won numerous awards for his graphics and design work, which he keeps in a drawer somewhere, and in 2001 he was a small part of a large project on airline gridlock that was awarded that year’s Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Journalism.
During his time at the Tribune, Steve took part in three major redesigns and witnessed firsthand and on a day-by-day basis the accelerating pace of change that continues to transform the world’s media companies.
He is a graduate of the University of Florida.

During his undergrad experience, Jack was an active member of IUSTV working on multiple shows and serving many different positions. Jack was active in journalism courses as well where he developed a passion for reporting and storytelling. He served as a podcast producer for the Media School’s former environmental publication {The Indiana Environmental Reporter / IER} where he created audio-driven accounts of the ecological conditions and current events impacting the Hoosier State. As a graduate student, Jack hopes to explore the relationship of news reporting and mental health. I grew up in Indiana, went to IU and studied Film Editing and Theory and Television Productions in 2004, when DVDs and videotapes still existed, and back when the Media School didn’t. I moved back to Bloomington when my wife got a job in Bloomington in 2011, and started working at IU in 2014. I love telling stories, helping tell stories and making sure that the students I meet take something away from every interaction. When I was at Radio/TV I produced television content for WTIU and PBS for a television show called Journey Indiana about people, places and things in Indiana. In April, I made the move to Kelley where I produce content for the internal workings of the school. I stumbled into teaching a few semesters back and I absolutely love it.
